Free State eyes lawsuit against FEMA

The Jones County Board of Supervisors is looking into a possible lawsuit against the federal government.

The supervisors hired Jackson attorney Samuel Kelly to appeal FEMA's June decision to end all claims on Hurricane Katrina debris cleanup.

Board President Andy Dial says FEMA still owes Jones County $6 million. He says FEMA promised to reimburse the county $33 million for debris removal but has paid only $27 million, and officials will do whatever it takes to get the rest.
