Corinth nursing home gunman draws life sentence

A 39-year-old man has been sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to murder in the 2006 shooting death of his wife at a Corinth nursing home.

On Wednesday, Andre Simmons entered the plea in Alcorn County Circuit Court.

Prosecutors said 37-year-old Irene L. Simmons was working in the kitchen of the Mississippi Care Center on September 19th, 2006, when Simmons entered the nursing home and shot her several times.

Prosecutors said the couple was estranged at the time of the shooting.
