Pulitzer prize winner Doug Marlette killed in auto accident

Doug Marlette, a Pulitzer-winning cartoonist, was killed in a single-car accident Tuesday morning in Marshall County, authorities said. He was 57.

Marlette was the passenger in the car, which struck a tree in wet conditions just before 10:00 Tuesday morning, said John Garrison, the coroner in Marshall County.
"Evidently, it hydroplaned, left the highway and struck the tree," Garrison said. "There was heavy rain in the area at the time."
