Jeff Davis maps strategy for schools

The present and future of Jeff Davis County's school children was discussed during a public meeting with the district's conservator.

About 75 residents participated in a forum designed to address questions surrounding the district's recovery from financial and administrative troubles.

Parents say they want good leadership, parental involvement, qualified teachers and a highly challenging curriculum.

In addition, some are pushing to consolidate the district's two high schools into one.

Newly appointed conservator Bob Strebeck says before the upcoming school year he plans to meet with every teacher in every school to ensure the district's curriculum is being followed.
