Pine Belt woman finds $8,000 in unclaimed funds

State Treasurer Tate Reeves says there are hundreds, and in some cases, thousands of dollars waiting for individuals in the Unclaimed Property Fund.

Reeves is traveling around the state encouraging people to see if they have unclaimed money waiting for them.  He visited Hattiesburg and invited residents to see if their names are on the list.

Several Pine Belt residents showed up and one woman discovered she had $8,000 in unclaimed money.

Reeves says his office is holding $35 million belonging to Mississippi residents. That includes everything from old utility deposits to bank accounts.
