A group of Hattiesburg residents demonstrated outside the workplace of school board President Sam Buchanan Tuesday.
About 35 demonstrators shouted "representation or resignation" outside Buchanan's office in downtown Hattiesburg.
They're demanding that Buchanan turn over the records involved in the 2003 lawsuit.
For years residents have fought for compensation from Kerr-McGee. They claim that shady legal deals between attorneys in the case excluded black leaseholders from the settlement while white business owners and the school district were the ones to profit.
Buchanan says he supports a proposal that calls for an independent assessment of the cresote contamination in the residential area.
