LeAnn Rimes helps wounded Florida veteran get new van

It used to take two people to lift Iraq veteran Peter Reid of Palm Bay, Florida, into and out of his van. Now he's getting a boost from country music star LeAnn Rimes.

The 2004 mortar attack left Reid, a Navy Seabee, partially paralyzed, blind in one eye and dependent on a motorized wheelchair. He also suffered a brain injury, and bits of shrapnel remain in his head and body.
Reid had not left his house for months because of the effort required to get into the van, but he's now looking forward to shopping trips with his wife because of a gift from Rimes.

Rimes, a Mississippi native, handed Reid the keys to a new wheelchair-accessible van in Nashville, Tennessee, last week.

While in Nashville, the Reids also attended a Rimes concert and her fan-club breakfast.
