Beware of 'jury duty' ID theft scam

An old scam is reemerging throughout the United States and here in the Pine Belt.

Scammers are calling people telling them they are with the jury department, and that there is an arrest warrant issued because they failed to perform jury duty.  The crooks then tell them to give them personal information such as their Social Security number, so they can fill out paperwork to get them out of trouble.

Circuit clerks in the Pine Belt are saying be careful and phone their offices if you get a suspicious call.

Cases of jury scams have occurred in three states across the U.S.
