Laurel businessman Jim Rasberry is stepping out of the race for state commissioner of insurance, 7 ON YOUR SIDE has learned.
Rasberry entered the race in March. But Wednesday he submitted a letter to Mississippi Democratic Party Chairman Wayne Dowdy requesting to be removed from the August 7 ballot.
Rasberry says he exhausted all outlets to raise the type of money needed in order to be a serious contender in the race.
This was Rasberry's first political race.
