Carriere man faces 9 counts of sex crimes involving foster children

A Carriere man has been charged in Pearl River and Hancock counties with nine counts of sex crimes involving his foster children.

Hancock County Sheriff's Department Investigator Kenny Hurt said David Richard "Ricky" Faulkner was arrested Tuesday, and was being held in the Pearl River County jail in Poplarville pending an initial court appearance.

Hurt said Faulkner and his wife, Melissa, kept foster children from 1994 to 2006. They lived in both Hancock County and Pearl River County during that time, which resulted in Faulkner being hit with charges in both counties, Hurt said.

Faulkner faces seven counts of molestation and one count of sexual battery of a juvenile and one count of directing a juvenile to commit a felony.

Hurt said the Faulkners moved to Carriere from the Bayside Park area of Hancock County after Hurricane Katrina struck.

Authorities did not release any more details of the case.
