Petal residents will soon be paying more in sewer rates in the Friendly City.
The board of aldermen voted to use the remaining $6.5 million of a $15 million bond issue to repair the city's sewage system. In order to do that the city has to pay about $400,000 a year for bond service.
That results in about a $10 increase per household on the monthly sewage rate.
The city used $8.5 million of the bond issue two years ago for similar repairs.
