Deal of the century on used FEMA trailers

The State of Mississippi is offering government agencies and some non-profit organizations some great deals on used FEMA trailers.

The Office of Surplus Property is offering the travel trailers to some organizations who serve the public and are registered with the Federal Donation Program.  A service charge has to be paid for each unit.

About 230 trailers are available for inspection at a staging site on Brady Road next to the old Central High School.  The site is open on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

"A lot of sheriff's departments are using them for mobile command posts, schools are using them for nursing stations," said Jim Marler, Director of the Office of Surplus Property.  "We've had some use for voting precincts, some of the rural areas that needed additional voting precincts, so we feel like there's not going to be any problem moving these," Marler said.

If you'd like more information, you can call the Office of Surplus Property at (601) 939-2050 or log on to http://www.dfa.state.ms.us .
