2 fired Covington hospital workers sue

Two fired employees of the Covington County Hospital have filed suit against the hospital's administrators and board of trustees, and the judge hearing the case has ordered officials not to terminate any more employees until further notice.

Kathy Bryant and Donna Bush were both fired the same day in April. Bryant, a 17-year employee of the hospital, said in court documents she was fired for disagreeing with hospital officials and trustees over the separation of the nursing home and the hospital.

Officials apparently favor operating the two facilities independently.  And as we reported Monday, the hospital's medical staff sent a letter to county officials saying it had no confidence in the board of trustees, hospital administrator Bobby Brubbs, and the director of nursing Tammy McDonald.

Judge Robert Evans has ordered the personnel files of hospital employees and minutes from the board of trustees sealed and kept at the courthouse for 10 days.
