The next time the weather gets bad you might want to be at the University of Southern Miss or anywhere in Forrest County.
USM and the Forrest County Emergency Management Agency are being recognized for their storm readiness.
The National Weather Service handed out the honors Monday during the Forrest County Board of Supervisors meeting.
The award recognizes those entities for their effective issuing of National Weather Service watches and warnings.
President Shelby Thames accepted the award for the university. Southern Miss becomes only the third university ever to receive the award and the first in Mississippi.
