Laurel Guard unit has new commander

A Laurel-based, Army National Guard unit which has supported the War on Terrorism has a new commander tonight.  Colonel Philip R. Fisher is the new head of the 184th Expeditionary Sustainment Command.

He officially took command of the unit from Major General Roger Shields in a ceremony at the Magnolia Center this afternoon.  Fisher has actually been the unit's commanding officer since April 1st.

Members of this unit have served since 2004 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  The unit has been re-organized twice in the last few years, but for 30 years, it was known as the 184th Transportation Brigade.
