Annual Livestock Show Underway in Hattiesburg

Dozens of youngsters from across South Mississippi are in Hattiesburg displaying their skills in handling all sorts of farm animals at the 68th annual South Mississippi District Livestock Show. 

Nearly 300 children ages 5 to 18 from the Gulf Coast to the Meridian area participating at the Forrest County Multi-Purpose Facility.  

The district show was preceeded by the Forrest County Livestock Show, which featured 250 head of livestock. 

Members of the Future Farmers of America and 4-H are taking part. 

The show wraps up tomorrow. 

Blue ribbon winners from the event will go on to compete at the Dixie National Junior Round-Up in Jackson next week.

    After losing the first two games of the season by a combined five points, Collins has won 12 consecutive games to advance to the class 2A South State title. The Tigers (12-2) defeated Bay Springs 22-8 on Friday to advance to a south state matchup against Taylorsville (13-1). Collins scored twice in the fourth quarter to overcome the Bulldogs on the road. "I feel great," said Collins head coach Eric Booth, a former USM running back.
