A former head of the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club in Hattiesburg was the guest of honor at an annual public program sponsored by the P.A.C.E.-Headstart Organization. Larry Dickens, who led the Boys and Girls Club for 15 years, was saluted during an afternoon event at the Saenger Theater. The event featured music from two church choirs and words of thanks from those who worked with Dickens. Former club members also spoke about Dickens' positive affect on the community. Next month, Dickens will serve as grand marshal for the annual P.A.C.E.-Headstart Black Heritage Parade in Hattiesburg. Today, he works in Mobile, Alabama as head of the local Y.M.C.A.
