Ass't DA to succeed retiring prosecutor

Assistant District Attorney Hal Kittrell of Columbia has been named interim DA by Gov. Haley Barbour, replacing the retiring Buddy McDonald.

Kittrell has served as assistant DA for the 15th Judicial District since 2000.

The district encompasses Marion, Lamar, Pearl River, Jeff Davis, and Lawrence counties.

Kittrell is a bar commissioner for the Mississippi Bar Association and a member of the fitness and character committee for the State Board of Bar Admissions.

McDonald is retiring effective December 31 to begin a private law practice in Picayune.
