The curse of the S-curve has struck again. An accident on Interstate 59 in Laurel sent a woman to the hospital.
Authorities say around 5:30 Tuesday morning a log truck was turning onto the interstate from 16th Avenue when it collided with a vehicle northbound on I-59.
The woman driving the vehicle was was taken to South Central Regional Medical Center, but was later released with minor injuries.
"It's alway good idea to slow down and be very aware of your situation," advises John Cox of the Laurel Police Department. "We have these kinds of accidents from time to time and hopefully when we straighten the S-curve out it will help us out."
A massive reconstruction of I-59 through Laurel to be completed in 2009 will eliminate the dangerous curve.
