Twister victims won't get FEMA housing

The Federal Emergency Management Agency says it has no way to help Pine Belt tornado victims.

FEMA officials say Katrina trailers from its staging site in Purvis will not be used to help victims of last week's devastating tornadoes.

Lamar and Jones county officials say their counties do not meet qualifications for assistance from FEMA.

The news comes while hundreds of travel trailers sit idle at FEMA's Purvis site.

Lamar County Emergency Management Director James Smith says his county reported about 30 homes damaged by the storms. That falls short of the 100-home damage requirement to qualify for federal help.

His agency says it will look into getting Small Business Administration loans for tornado victims.
