Jury convicts all in mortgage fraud case

After less than five hours of deliberations, a federal court jury has returned its verdict in the mortgage-flipping trial in Hattiesburg.

The jury convicted Richard Lucas, Kimberly Castle and Kenneth Stalnaker on numerous counts of conspiracy to commit wire and bank fraud.

Lucas and Castle were found guilty of money laundering.

Stalnaker was acquitted on two counts in his 12-count indictment.

Defense attorneys say they were stunned at such a quick verdict, citing all the documents entered into evidence that the jury had to review.

Sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 1.
