RR fast-tracks upgrade of killer crossing

Good news for people who have to traverse one of the most dangerous railroad crossings in the state.

News 7 has learned that Norfolk Southern will install warning gates at the crossing at Eastabuchie Road near Highway 11.

The announcement comes just days after residents held a candlelight vigil to remember those killed at the crossing.

Amtrak trains have been involved in two fatal collisions with cars at that crossing in the last two months.

Norfolk Southern says installation will begin in mid-December and will take four to six weeks to complete.
