Former West Marion High School baseball coach Stephen Harris has been charged with two counts of statutory rape and three counts of sexual battery in Newton County.
The 30-year-old Foxworth resident has been in the Marion County Jail for nearly two weeks following his arrest on sexual battery and child exploitation charges involving a 16-year-old West Marion student. Newton County picked up Harris on Thursday and transported him to Decatur where the new charges were filed Friday. Authorities say the charges stem from a relationship Harris had with a then 15-year-old student when he was assistant baseball coach at Newton County High School.
Harris was ordered held on $375,000 bond.
