A Hattiesburg man who's been in jail on aggrivated assault charges for two months will now face murder charges.
That's because the victim he allegedly shot in August died on Saturday.
28-year-old Christopher Smith is accused of shooting 58-year-old John Bridges once in the abdomen back on August 20th.
Smith was arrested and charged with aggrivated assault and has been in the Forrest County Jail ever since.
His charges have now been upgraded to murder.
Bridges had been recovering at Forrest General Hospital but he died yesterday afternoon of complications from that wound.
The Forrest County Coroner's Office says an autopsy should be performed tormorrow to confirm the cause of death.
