Lamar County School Rededicated After Hurricane Katrina

After more than a year of rebuilding from damage inflicted by Hurricane Katrina, the staff and students of Bass Memorial Academy rededicated their school and their commitment to helping the community.

Bass Memorial Academy is a Seventh Day Adventist boarding high school founded in 1961.

The school was severly impacted by Hurricane Katrina, but managed to serve the area as a distribution center for emergency supplies for Lamar County.

School resumed two weeks after the storm in make-shift classrooms.

The gymnasium is the final building to be completed and is projected to open in mid-November.
