A Jones County army officer killed in action in the Korean War was remembered in a memorial service today, 54 years after he was reported missing.
Family and friends of 1st Lt. Jack Conrad Lowe of Laurel gathered to officially mark his passing at the Ellisville Cemetery.
They were joined by members of the Armed Forces, the R.O.T.C. and various veterans organizations.
Lt. Lowe was killed when his observer plane crashed in North Korea in October, 1952.
His remains were never returned to the U.S.
The service included a 21-gun salute, the playing of Taps and an American flag presentation to his family.
4th District Congressman Gene Taylor gave the eulogy.
