Hurricane season has scorned experts

Colorado State University researchers are predicting one more hurricane and two more named storms, but no "intense" hurricanes during the months of October and November.

The updated report from Colorado State University forecasters William Gray and Philip Klotzbach is again calling for a below-average hurricane season in the Atlantic — with a total of five hurricanes and 11 named storms.

Klotzbach describes the hurricane activity through September as "average" — saying August was inactive, while September was above-average.

He also expects October to have below-average activity.

The report cites El Niño conditions for a reduced number of storms.
