FGH cops seek to widen bounds

Forrest General Hospital's police force is making a request to expand its jurisdiction.

Currently hospital police can enforce the law on hospital property, but they lose their power if they pursue a suspect off the grounds.

Police Chief Wayne Landers requested a resolution from the Forrest County Board of Supervisors to gain support for this new authority. Ultimately the Legislature will have to approve.

Landers says the same thing was done for university police several years ago.
