Hundreds of Jones County-area residents took a brief walk around the Sawmill Square Mall this morning to bring in thousands of dollars to fight heart disease.
About three hundred people took part in the 13th Heartwalk for the American Heart Association.
Funds raised will go towards research and education to fight heart disease and stroke.
The goal for this year's walk was $70,000.
Organizers say heartwalks across Mississippi last year brought in more than $1 million which was donated by the American Heart Association to the University Medical Center in Jackson for research.
