The man who led William Carey University for the last eight years is being remembered today as a devoted servant of God and an accomplished administrator.
The life and work of Dr. Larry Kennedy was celebrated during a public memorial service on the William Carey University campus this afternoon.
Dr. Kennedy died Wednesday night after a nine-month battle with Lou Gehrig's disease.
He had served as president of the school since 1998.
During his tenure, enrollment at William Carey grew by one-third, more than $22 million in construction and renovation projects were completed and the school became debt-free.
Dr. Kennedy was buried in Hattiesburg this morning during a private ceremony.
