Wife of Former Laurel Councilman Indicted

A Jones County grand jury has indicted the wife of jailed former Laurel Councilman Joseph Glen Jones on charges of conspiracy and obstruction of justice.

The indictment alleges that Sarita Jones conspired with others to pay witnesses not to testify in her husband's May trial.  Joseph Glen Jones was convicted of sexual battery.  The former councilman was sentenced to 30 years in prison with 15 years suspended.  He was also convicted of attempted escape and received a 2 1/2 year sentence for that incident.
