Mississippi's newly-appointed state auditor spoke about new initiatives he has started at a meeting of the Hattiesburg Rotary Club Tuesday.
Shad White said he is asking for $100,000 dollars less from the Legislature to run his department.
His office will also undergo a new compliance audit.
He said he's also working to improve cybersecurity and will soon be adding a new feature to the state auditor's website dealing with department transparency.
"Any document that we can legally put out in the public, we want to put in one place, so that people can see it and know what we're doing," said White.
White was appointed just last month by Governor Phil Bryant to fill the unexpired term of former state Auditor Stacy Pickering.
He is a Sandersville native and he holds a law degree from Harvard Law School.
He says he will run for state auditor in 2019.
