SIMPSON COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - A Simpson County Sheriff's Deputy was injured in a Tuesday night car crash as he was responding to an emergency call.

Deputy Eric Still was responding to a call for service on Bushtown Shivers Road when the single-car accident happened on Highway 43 near Pinola on around 9 p.m., according to a Simpson County Sheriff's Department news release. Another deputy discovered the wreck shortly after.

Still was treated at the scene and transported to a Jackson hospital for treatment of a broken ankle, several lacerations and a head injury. He is in stable condition and is recovering, according to the release.

Mississippi Highway Patrol was called to the scene and is investigating the accident.
