HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Two University of Southern Mississippi baseball players were honored by being named to two different All-America teams on Thursday.
As the Golden Eagles' ace, Sandlin went 9-0 in 14 starts with a 1.13 earned run average and striking out 134 on his way to being named Conference USA Pitcher of the Year. He leads the nation in ERA and WHIP (0.69).
Reynolds batted .400 with 15 home runs and 60 RBIs and was named Conference USA Player of the Year and Conference USA Newcomer of the Year. He leads the nation in on-base percentage (.562) and walks (63), and led Southern Miss in slugging percentage (.727).
The pair helped lead USM to a Conference USA regular season championship and the conference tournament championship, leading to an invite to the Fayetteville Regional as the No. 2 seed. The Golden Eagles will face Dallas Baptist on Friday at 7 p.m.
