The Mississippi Highway Patrol's "Drive to Survive" Memorial Day enforcement period ends at midnight, and troopers have been conducting safety checkpoints across the state to keep drivers safe this holiday weekend.

The following are statewide totals reported by MHP as of noon Monday:

Citations/Arrests 
  • Hazard (moving violations like reckless driving or speeding):  919
  • Non-Hazard (expired tags, etc): 459
  • DUI: 27
  • Drug Arrest: 1
  • Felony Arrest:1
  • Seatbelt: 183
  • Child Restraint: 29
  • Total: 1619
Accidents:
  • Collisions: 27
  • Injuries: 14
  • Fatalities: 0
Troop J (Hattiesburg)
