HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -
Volunteers such as those with Mennonite Disaster Service were guests of honor at an appreciation banquet Thursday.
It was hosted by Recover, Rebuild, Restore Southeast Mississippi (R3SM) at the Train Depot and was held to thank the hundreds of volunteers who've helped rebuild homes in the Hub City after the January 2017 tornado.
Mennonite Disaster Service volunteers rebuilt 20 homes from the ground up and worked on several others.
R3SM said more than 1,600 volunteers have spent time on rebuilding projects in Hattiesburg since the storm.
