A Hattiesburg fraternity celebrated a national holiday Saturday by feeding some local veterans.
Members of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity gathered at the African-American Military History Museum to cook out for veterans on Armed Forces Day.
The holiday is a time to pay special tribute to men and women in all branches of the military.
The fraternity served up hamburgers, hot dogs and barbecue beans.
"It really means a lot," said veteran Alvin Eaton of Hattiesburg. "And as we approach Memorial Day, it's a time to be reflective of what the veterans really stand for."
"The veterans are some people that we know that have put their lives on the line for America and being a veteran myself, I know how important it is," said Roger Jones, a veteran and fraternity member.
The first Armed Forces Day was celebrated on May 20, 1950.
