JASPER COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - Authorities are searching for the person(s) responsible for the shooting death of an 18-year-old woman in Jasper County. According to the Jasper County Sheriff Department's Facebook page, the incident took place around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday on Highway 11 just north of Heidelberg.
When emergency crews arrived on scene, they found Addie May unresponsive along with two unidentified males ages 18 and 19 suffering from non-life-threatening injuries. May was expected to graduate from Laurel High School this upcoming Tuesday, according to officials. Her last post to Facebook read "& I'm still up," which has been like over 200 times.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation in collaboration with the Jasper County Sheriff's Department is investigating the case. Officials urge anyone with information regarding the shooting to contact the Jasper County Sheriff's Department at 601-764-2588 or Crime Stoppers.
This is the second drive-by shooting to occur in Jasper County that resulted in a death within the past couple of months. Authorities have not released a motive for the shooting and say the investigation is ongoing.
