PEARL, MS (WDAM) -

Hattiesburg High School defeated Lewisburg 9-5 in the first game of the 2018 MHSAA 5A Championship series at Trustmark Park in Pearl.

Last year, the Tigers came up short on reaching the state championship, falling to Pearl River Central in the third round. This time around, the Tigers are looking to redeem themselves and capture their first state championship since 2006.

HHS leads the best-of-three series 1-0. Game 2 will be Thursday at 1 p.m. and, if necessary, Game 3 will be Saturday. Admission tickets are $13.
