Mom arrested with drugs at correctional facility on Mother's Day

MARION COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

A woman was arrested with narcotics at a Marion County correctional facility on Mother's Day.

According to a Facebook post from the Marion County Regional Correctional Facility, officers discovered Susan Singley with concealed narcotics on Sunday. The post said Singley is suspected of attempting to smuggle Suboxone during a visit with her son, Anthony Gleason, who is an inmate at the facility. 

Singley was charged with possession of a controlled substance in a correctional facility and had her bond set at $2,500, according to the post. She bonded out on Monday.

    The University of Southern Mississippi ended Saturday’s regular-season baseball finale at Marshall University the same way it started, with a bang. The 18th-ranked Golden Eagles sent 13 batters to the plate in both the second and ninth innings, scoring eight runs in each, as USM finished off a first-ever sweep of the Thundering Herd on its home turf with a 18-9 victory at Epling Stadium.

    A man is recovering from injuries after he claims he was beaten by officers with the Laurel Police Department. Thirty-six-year-old James Barnett indicated the incident took place on Tuesday, May 15.
