POPLARVILLE, MS (WDAM) - Fresh off its MACJC title, PRCC heads to LSU-Eunice on Wednesday to open the Region 23 Tournament.
When the Wildcats (37-9) play Mississippi Gulf Coast at 3 p.m., it will have been ten days since their last baseball game after sweeping Coahoma on May 6.
Pearl River hopes to continue what's been a stellar season in the NJCAA Division II World Series.
"The big thing about us this year is we really work together," said PRCC sophomore Simon Landry, who set a school record with 19 home runs this season. "When pitchers struggle, hitters do well. When hitters struggle, pitchers pick us up. It's been a whole team effort this year."
"We've got a chance to hit with a little power throughout our lineup and score some runs," said second-year PRCC head coach Michael Avalon. "Especially down the last six-game stretch, that's what we were able to do. Our offense came alive and going into the playoffs that's the big thing is guys have to score."
