HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Some area baseball squads entered the Friday on the verge of advancing to the state championship. Others were hoping to make it to one more game.
Hattiesburg trailed West Jones 6-1 in the third but came back to take Game 2 10-8. The Tigers will play for the Class 5A state championship for the second time in three years.
Seminary couldn't complete the sweep in it's Class 3A south state series against St. Andrew's, falling 12-5. The Bulldogs will go on the road tomorrow for Game 3.
Perry Central lost to Madison St. Joseph 13-10, ending its season in the Class 2A south state championship. Nanih Waiya defeated Stringer 4-3, returning to the Class 1A state championship.
