Laurel seniors recognized with Peacemaking scholarships

LAUREL, MS (WDAM) -

Four Laurel High School seniors were recognized during the Laurel City Council meeting Tuesday night.

Roxanne McDonald, Taylor Reed, Sha Cori Ruffin and Bryce Ward were awarded Peacemaking scholarships through the Brighter Tomorrows Mentor Program.

With the help of local sponsors, the scholarships were based on nonviolent conflict resolution, racial reconciliation, social justice, community service and active citizenship.

The students were chosen by a group of leaders at Laurel High.
