LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - Mayors past and present helped out with a Mother's Day appreciation breakfast in Laurel on Tuesday.
The event at the Dr. B.E. Murph Senior Center is held annually. Gift certificates were handed out to the oldest mom in the room, Lee Alice Smith, and to the woman with the most grandkids, Johnnie Naylor.
"I got over a hundred, grand and great grand and great great great grand children and they're still having them," Naylor said.
Laurel Mayor Johnny Magee, former mayor Melvin Mack and city councilmen were among some of the men serving the ladies.
"We're just honored to have our guys that come in, our important guys, that come in each year to serve the mothers," said organizer Lula Cooley.
The event was open to seniors of Jones County and has been held at the Murph Center for the past seven years, according to Cooley.
