LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - A Laurel mother hosted a prom night for kids in the community at the Rogers-Greenhouse.
Robin Arrington says this is her second year hosting the event and she plans to do more in the future.
"I decided to do it because Laurel doesn't really have a lot going on for children or at least anything positive," says Arrington."Everybody likes to dress their kids up. So, that's why I did it."
Leslie Mosely says she enjoyed being able to dress her daughter up for the prom.
"She's my mini-me," says Mosely. "I enjoyed doing it and it's good to see all the kids dress up and have a good time."
Children, starting at the age of one, were escorted down a red carpet in front of the Greenhouse in Laurel.
Eric Johnson, who is the father of Arrington and also escorted his granddaughter down the runway, says he's proud of his daughter's accomplishments and is happy to be able to spend time with his grandchildren.
"That really means a lot to me to able to participate with my grandchildren," says Johnson. "You know a lot of grandparents don't get to participate with their grandkids but I do."
Arrington says the prom is meant to be an event that the entire family can enjoy.
"It makes me feel really good because I have three babies here myself," says Arrington, "It makes me feel really good that everybody is getting along and get's to dance and have a good time."
Prom King and Queen as well as other titles were announced, as well.
