Class 6A

Oak Grove (12) Gulfport (2)

- Oak Grove’s season comes to an end.

Class 5A

South Jones (8) Hattiesburg (11) – 9 innings

- Hattiesburg forces a game three on Saturday night at home.

West Jones (4) Pearl River Central (6)

- Pearl River Central forces a game three at West Jones on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Class 4A

Purvis (1) East Central (4)

- Purvis is eliminated from the playoffs.

Class 3A

West Marion (2) St. Andrew's (3)

- West Marion’s season comes to an end.

Seminary (10) Morton (9)

- Seminary advances to its third straight South State.

Class 2A

Taylorsville (17) St. Joe (6)

- The Tartars force game at game three on Saturday at St. Joseph.

Perry Central (10) Enterprise-Lincoln (6)

- Perry Central advances to the South State finals.

    As a freshman quarterback playing behind one of the best athletes to come through Columbia Academy in recent years, Thomas Erastus “Ras” Pace got his first career start in what was arguably the Cougars’ biggest game of the 2016 season. “I thought I did a pretty good job handing the ball off,” said Pace of his starting debut in a second-round MAIS AAA playoff game in place of the inured Wiley Cleland.
