JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - A man wanted in Jones County after his 15-month-old child ingested methamphetamine turned himself in to the sheriff's department Friday morning.

The child's parents, Shawn and Hannah Beasley, are now both behind bars at the Jones County Jail on charges of child abuse.

Deputies responded to a child abuse report at South Central Regional Medical Center on Thursday. Hannah, 17, of Laurel, brought her 15-month-old child to the emergency room after seeing the child lick a bottle cap that had crystal meth in it, according to a Jones County Sheriff's Department news release.

The child ingested the drug Wednesday evening and was brought to the emergency room under the influence of the drug around 1 a.m. Thursday. Hannah said Shawn, 24, frequently used drugs, according to the sheriff's department.

Hannah was arrested and charged with felonious child abuse. She is scheduled to make her initial court appearance at 1 p.m. Friday.
