It is with great sadness for the Hattiesburg Tiger Family to share the passing of our own, Coach Derek "Red"Jarvis Sr. Coach Red was loved and will be greatly missed by the Tiger Family. He touched so many lives, and his spirit will remain in the hearts of all who knew him. As a husband, father, coach, mentor, friend, and colleague he impacted Hattiesburg and the surrounding area with his wisdom, his caring, contagious spirit, and his willingness to help others. We could never... be more grateful for the positive impact made on our student athletes of Hattiesburg High School. Our thoughts and prayers are with the students of Hattiesburg Public School District, Lamar County School District, Forrest County School District, Sacred Heart, the families of the YMCA, the families of the recreational sports teams he coached, but most importantly with his family who he loved so much. Coach Red's legacy will live on through his loved ones who admired him most; his wife, Sadora, his sons, parents, immediate family, and close friends. #TigerNation #FOE

As a freshman quarterback playing behind one of the best athletes to come through Columbia Academy in recent years, Thomas Erastus “Ras” Pace got his first career start in what was arguably the Cougars’ biggest game of the 2016 season. “I thought I did a pretty good job handing the ball off,” said Pace of his starting debut in a second-round MAIS AAA playoff game in place of the inured Wiley Cleland.
