Mt. Olive police are investigating after a woman was robbed at gunpoint outside a Regions bank Wednesday night.

Police Chief Clifton Morgan said the robbery happened around 7:30 p.m. at the Regions bank on Main Street as a woman was depositing a bank bag from business into the after hours deposit box.

The victim told police she never saw the man coming. Morgan said the suspect walked up behind the woman, pulled out a handgun and snatched the money bag before running from the scene.

The suspect was described as a black man standing around 6-foot-0 with a slim build, according to Morgan. The victim told police the suspect was dressed in all black and had a mask covering his face.
