LUMBERTON, MS (WDAM) -

A Hattiesburg woman accused of shooting another woman in the face and shoulder was arrested Tuesday night in Lamar County.

Sheriff Danny Rigel said 41-year-old Lucy Morales barged into a home on West Seneca Road outside Lumberton around 11 p.m., cutting a man on the hand as he tried to stop her from entering the home.

A woman inside the home tried to escape in a car when Morales fired a shotgun through the windshield, hitting the victim in her face and shoulder with bird shot, according to Rigel. The woman was treated at a local hospital and released.

Rigel said Morales was arrested at the scene and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
